In The Chair With Claire Leanne

The Best Things My Parents Taught Me: That I can be anything I want to be, and with lots hard work comes rewards and success. They also told me that I will be in work for the best part of my life and that I have to be really happy in the job that I am in, if I for one moment doubt what im doing or wake up dreading going into work then I should remove myself from that job instantly. Im very fortunate that this has never happened to me.

My Favourite Part Of My Working Week: At this point most people would say Friday night when iv finished for the week, me on the other hand it has to be a Saturday, I absolutely love the buzz the salon has on a Saturday, weather it's a wedding or just the general banter from the clients on a Saturday it has to be the best day of the week.

My Greatest Weakness Is: Over checking everything, Im such a perfectionist everything has to be right, if im not happy or feel that I haven't given the client 100% then I really kick myself.

What I Love Most About Hairdressing: Seeing my clients walk out of the salon door with the biggest smile on there face and a spring in there step knowing I created that. Meeting all kinds of people is also a real high point for me, with each client comes a different story. it can be such a interesting job.

One Thing I Would Change About The Hair Industry: The fact people think all female hairdressers are air heads, it take a lot of knowledge in the training and you really cannot be a dope to get it all.

My Proudest Hairdressing Moment: Well iv been in the industry since 2004 and my proudest moment only came a week ago, I had the sweetest girl in for her colour, it was the first time she had her hair coloured and was very excited. The reason she wanted her hair coloured was because she was starting a new school and wanted to completely rebrand herself, she had been picked on and bullied in her previous school. As she walked in you could tell she was a very shy young lady her mum told me she may not talk throughout the colour. Not only did I manage to get her to talk but when leaving she had the biggest smile on her face and walked out of the salon with her head held high, her confidence was through the roof and she looked brilliant for it.

I Think My Clients Love Me Because: I value and appreciate them as more than a client, building up a strong relationship with your client is vital, you need to find out what they do for a living to link what style they can get away with. I also believe that because I try to give them the highest standard of service from the moment they walk in the door to when they leave.... During my consultations I always like to focus on where the client is heading with there hair, and create a plan for the next appointments to come, this way it keeps them coming back to you because they know you know what your doing but also it shows your interested in them for the long haul.

If I Wasn't A Hairdresser Now I Would Be: I knew from a young age I wanted to be a hairdresser from a young age and never contemplated anything else. when I left the salon I had been training in after 9 years I knew it was right for me but I had no idea weather to go into another salon or to find something else and set up alone, all I knew was I had just taken on my own house and knew I couldn't afford the rent or bills with no job and no significant savings, I ended up going for a job with hastings direct car insurance because there was only one salon I knew I wanted to work in, that was a very high end salon in the town I live in. i handed my CV in the moment i handed my notice into the previous salon and gained myself a interview much to my surprise. It ended up that both the high end hairdressers and the car insurance people wanted me, had Kings Hair Studios not wanted me id defiantly be working with car insurance....argghhh that's such a horrible thought

My Biggest Influence(s): My mum and dad. They are both very hard workers and brought both me and my sister up to the fact you work for your money, its not handed to you for free, its not a right to be given money and if we wanted nice things in life, then we had to work our butts off for it.
